I grew up in the middle of the woods in a community without God or master, a paradise populated by outlaws from all over Europe. My family founded “l’imprimerie 34” (34 printing press) in Toulouse, a hideout for anarchist activists; they fought through the production of books, posters, brochures... and other clandestine activities: forged documents, explosions, kidnappings. I grew up with the certainty that one day I would take part in these kinds of fabulous coups to build a better world.
But with time, years in prison for some, everyone's positions changed and my family fell apart. Many preferred to put it on hold, direct action was no longer on the agenda... yet I was ready!
Today, the printing press has been demolished and the actors in this story have lost touch with each other. The revolution I dreamed of participating in never happened, and I owe it to my daughter to explain the reasons for this failure. By confronting my mother Hibou with her memories, exploring the archives, and meeting with Jean-Marc, Michel, and Nathalie, I am trying to piece together our history to help my daughter Anouk find her way in a world in pain.
