The way back

Documentary

In Coucy-le-Château in the department of the Aisne, the Moyembrie farm hosts around 20 prisoners who are in non-custodial placement yet still "in detention" for a period of 6 months to a year.

In this spot, unique in France, residents try to rebuild their lives, to rediscover their self-esteem, but also what it means to work and have a social life. Little by little, they attempt to reclaim their rightful place in the world.

The film follows several of these men, between their arrival at the farm and their departure toward that freedom so long awaited, yet also such a source of anxiety. To the rhythm of farm work and the seasons, these prisoners begin to imagine their freedom…
