Seamen’s Club

Documentary

Located on the world's busiest sea route, the port of Dunkirk continues to expand. Here, the uninterrupted flow of millions of containers filled with merchandise transiting by ship and then by truck makes our globalized world of consumerism visible and palpable.

Lost in the midst of this titanic machinery, the Seamen's Club tries to make the daily lives of visiting sailors, dockers and truckers more humane. For years, Patricia, her brother Lorenzo and a team of volunteers have been welcoming all these workers of the sea in a prefabricated bar. A modest, essential refuge on a human scale, this place of mutual aid and solidarity is now in jeopardy.
